Geographic location
Animated and pleasant, at the border of Cambodia, the city of Chau Doc is located at the very North of the Mekong Delta.
Must-see and must-do activities
Chau Doc is not very visited. It is above all a stage city for those wishing to get to Cambodia by land.
You can leave for Phnom Penh by boat, for a nice 4-5 hour long cruise. The Sam Mount is quite popular, but does not really justify the detour. If you are on site, you can still climb it up and contemplate the view over the rice fields.
How long should I stay?
One night before leaving for Cambodia
Accommodations
From the guest house to the luxury hotel.
Luân’s opinion
Chau Doc is a nice city that I appreciate…but it is not really worth the detour…unless you want to go to Cambodia. In that case, it is an excellent city stage between the Mekong Delta and Phnom Penh, furthermore allowing you the possibility to take a nice cruise going up the Mekong.
