Geographic location

Located South from the Clouds Pass, Hue is unquestionably the capital of Trung Bo, the Middle Part of Viet Nam. Not far away from the South China Sea, the city is built on the banks of the Perfume River (Song Huong), so much described in poems and painted by artists who spent time there. Hue is listed as UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993.

EN42002hueMust-see and must-do activities

Erected as imperial city by the Nguyen dynasty, Hue remains today the cultural and intellectual center of the Country, introducing palaces, pagodas and tombstones more sumptuous and majestic one after the others. Testimony of ancient centuries, the city also carries the scars of war for the Independence of Viet Nam. True place of inspiration for Vietnamese artists, Hue is an unavoidable destination, both in terms of richness and of its population considered as the most welcoming of the Country.

In Hue, the best way to move around is the bicycle. A lot of Vietnamese people still use it to move around. The long and wide shaded avenues of the citadel allow tourists to move at their own pace when going from one site to another…

How long should I stay?

Hue won’t stop enthralling you. This jewel of Vietnamese and World Heritage holds so much richness that you are going to have a hard time visiting everything. However, you should count a minimum of two or three days on site in order to have a better appreciation of the place.

Accommodations

This unavoidable place of tourism welcomes thousands of tourists each year. As a result, the accommodation infrastructure has developed and numerous hotels can suit your budget, from a ‘’classic’’ accommodation to four-star resorts with swimming pools, saunas and massages…

Luân’s opinion

A MUST-SEE for History buffs, nice buildings, gardens and nice rocks… Moreover, Hue provides the most peaceful atmosphere… Besides, past the most famous sites (Imperial Citadel, Tien Mu Pagoda, Tu Duc and Minh Mang tombstones…), it is enjoyable to stay a few days in order to walk around the old city or to visit less popular places (numerous pagodas and tombstones…) or more unusual places: the Arenas, the Temple of Literature of Hue…
